Helvetic Go Paperless with REDiFly eTechlog

helvetic goes paperless with the redifly etechlog (1200 x 628 mm)

Helvetic Airways has officially gone live with the REDiFly eTechlog across its entire fleet.

This milestone marks a major step in the Swiss airline’s digital transformation. The cloud-based platform replaces paper technical logbooks with a streamlined, digital process. Pilots and engineers now have real-time access to flight and maintenance data, no matter where they are.

Replacing Paper with Real-Time Data

Helvetic’s rollout represents a decisive move away from paper-based processes. The REDiFly eTechlog gives flight and maintenance teams a faster, more accurate way to record defects, log flights, and track technical updates.

Pilots and engineers now work with a single digital platform. This change removes delays caused by handling and processing paper, reducing the risk of errors and missed entries.

iPads Assigned to Pilots

A key part of the project was Helvetic’s decision to assign iPads directly to pilots rather than individual aircraft. This improves accountability, device care, and security. Pilots use their assigned devices to complete flight and maintenance reporting tasks without sharing hardware.

Cloud-Native and Fully Integrated

REDiFly’s cloud-native SaaS design fits seamlessly with Helvetic’s IT strategy. There is no need for in-house servers or additional infrastructure, making access secure and scalable across the network.

The eTechlog integrates with Helvetic’s existing software, including WinOps for flight operations and AMOS/AMOS Mobile for maintenance. Flight crews and engineers see real-time aircraft status, upcoming maintenance requirements, and technical reports in one place.

Smooth Onboarding and Regulatory Approval

Helvetic supported its pilots and maintenance teams with structured training and onboarding. This ensured a smooth transition from paper to digital workflows.

The project also gained full approval from the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA), confirming compliance with Tier 1 regulatory standards.

Results and Impact

Christian Suhner, CTO of Helvetic, comments:

“Going live with the REDiFly eTechlog has been a major milestone for Helvetic Airways. The system adapts to our processes, rather than the other way around, making it easier to collect and manage technical data. It has strengthened our operations’ data quality, security, and reliability across the network. We’re excited about what the future holds with REDiFly.”

Patrick Clancy, CEO of REDiFly, adds:

“Helvetic’s move to a fully paperless operation with the REDiFly eTechlog shows exactly what this platform was built for — giving airlines faster, more reliable workflows and real-time control over the quality and management of their operational data.”

Helvetic’s rollout highlights the benefits of moving to a digital technical logbook. Turnaround times are faster, data quality is higher, and decisions are made with confidence using live operational data.
